11. black work

This week my first design for black work. It is countable embroidery and only the double running ( Holbein stitch) is used. Black work was during several periods very popular. Mostly it was used for cloth. You can make beautiful samplers by combining borders and plain filling designs. There are more the 100 designs for black work on this site.
